It’s just something annoying when people just don’t get your name right, isn’t it?
My name is Putri Elasafura and I don’t think my name is long. And since majority of my cousins and cousins’ daughters have the same first name, I am known as Safura by most of my family members and friends (maybe some other names to a few). Indeed it is the name I am comfortable with as this circumstance exists. It used to be the consistent name that I would introduce myself as in any occasion as I believe that is laconic and uncomplicated enough to either enunciate or spell..
…Not!!
I’ve encountered numerous at-least-unpleasant-for-me episodes of ‘I’m Safura’ introduction. Frequent responses would be “Sapura?” or “Saf..how again?”
What is so hard about pronouncing my name?
“Safari” pun ada! That one is ULTIMATELY stupid and so beyond help la kan? Eee..bodohnye!! (Geram!)
Nonetheless, I still establish myself as Safura but only at casual and non-work related meetings or functions. The control mechanism has higher percentage of success in this kind of environment, I think. It is less likely that they will ask for email address to continue communicating with you, thus they will probably want to key in your number. That is where you can really set them right if they get the name wrong should you fail to correct them during the primary introduction. I don’t know lah, I just feel that in a more relaxed situation, there’s just no pressure to betulkan nama if orang lain salah sebut or eja.
As opposed to at work, when one person gets it wrong, he/she will start to send email to you and cc to a few others with your name spelled erroneously and from then on, that is how others will spell your name as well. (There is always address book where one can view every employee’s name in full but maybe that address book appears invisible kot..)
Funny la! Sesuka hati letak nama orang!
So at work, I am known as Putri.
Itu pun ada yang salah!
And by the way, my name is Putri. Not Puteri.
Now this one is few and far between at the office. Sometimes phone calls from the general line come to my extension. So I would pick up and I would say the standard greeting line of the company and subsequently say, “Good morning/afternoon,”
And the person on the other line would reply, “Hello, sape ni?”
Dude! Hello!! You are the one who called me! Sape you la call orang nak tanya like that?
Yes, it is explicable that sometimes we receive phone calls from numbers that we are not familiar with and tend to call back that number as to satisfy our curiosity in finding out who is the caller. But, wouldn’t it be more polite to at least introduce ourselves (if it so troublesome to inform that we are just returning call, etc)?
I find it discourteous to be dialing anyone’s number regardless we know that person or not and when he/she answers the phone, the caller just pops out, “Who’s this?”.
Hi, my name is Putri Elasafura. But you can call me J-Lo. =p
Boleh try ni.
To all celebrating Deepavali, Happy Deepavali and jangan main mercun.
Kepada sesiapa yang suka bermain mercun tu, tolong hentikan perbuatan yang merbahaya ini. Terima kasih..

Blessed
After coming back from Private Sale in JB, I took a flight to Langkawi together with the same group that went to Bandung late last year. It was rather a smaller group this time. We had fun nevertheless. I’ve got nothing much for this post, just feel like uploading photos here.
Must-do: Island hopping! Go get yourself sunburnt!
Had Meister Club event last night but I forgot to snap!
Saw G.I.Joe, it’s like sh*t.
Saw The Proposal. Besssssssssssssssst =) Yeah, I like chick-flick. Whatever.
Enjoy the photos!
Oh before that, especially to my blog commenter who identified her name as Lisa; as per your comment on my Cougaritas post, I think I’m gonna quote here what exactly you said as I believe here would give better coverage rather than just approving.
Lisa ’s comment: “i rasa u yang tak boleh tgk girls lain lebih kan? i know what kind and type of girl u are because normally girls mmmg tak boleh tgk girl lain lebih and style skit.that y u a little bit meluat kan? moral of the story, jgn jelous dgn kelebihan org lain ok”
Dear Lisa (I think it’s not your real name as I believe you are too afraid of disclosing your real identity). Firstly, thank you very much for reading my blog. I truly appreciate it. Secondly, I don’t know who you are and even if I do, I don’t care about you and I so honestly don’t care about your comment either. I don’t think I’ve ever posted anything talking about other girls and whether or not I have issues with them. But if ada and if ada yang terasa and yang terasa tu is you, I’m so sorry la kan. So you can say whatever you want, I don’t care as I have more important things to do than paying attention to school-kids stuffs like your immature-portraying comment above. So, go do whatever that will make you feel much better. I rasa you yang tak boleh tengok girls lain lebih (like how you said it). So I hope you have learnt the moral of the story that you yourself quoted; jangan jealous dengan kelebihan orang lain ok. Ok…
May God bless you and give some peace in you.
And for others who probably share the same opinion as Lisa’s, simpan je la. Don’t waste your time.
People who have nothing to do just love talking about other people. Not so good things of others primarily.
Ok, Lisa probably won’t enjoy these photos below but I hope you guys do, so enjoy!
